Treecension

Privacy policy

Treecension uses Steam to provide online multiplayer. Circular Studios does not currently operate player accounts, dedicated game servers, advertising systems, or developer analytics for the game.

Effective and last updated: August 2, 2026

Plain-language summary: Steam handles the platform and relay connection. Multiplayer participants exchange the information needed to play a session. Your settings and progression are saved locally, and Circular Studios does not receive a copy through the current game build.

1. Scope

This policy explains how Circular Studios (“we,” “us,” or “our”) handles information in connection with Treecension and this information website. It does not replace Valve’s own terms or privacy policy. Steam’s processing of your Steam account and use of the Steam platform is governed by Valve’s policies.

2. Information processed

Steam and lobby information

When you use online multiplayer, the game processes identifiers and profile information supplied through Steam, including your Steam identifier, Steam display name, lobby identifier, lobby membership, and connection status.

Gameplay session information

During an online session, the game exchanges gameplay information with the host and other participants. This may include player position and movement, combat actions, health and revive state, team assignment, cosmetic selections, boon or upgrade effects used in the session, enemy state, and other information required to keep the game synchronized.

Technical information

Steam and the network services used to establish or relay a connection may process technical information such as connection events and network identifiers. Circular Studios does not currently operate a separate multiplayer backend or automatically receive this information from the game.

Information we do not currently collect

The current game build does not include a Circular Studios account system, advertising SDK, developer analytics SDK, voice recording, text chat storage, or automatic crash-report upload to Circular Studios. We do not sell player information.

3. How information is used

The information described above is processed only as needed to:

4. Multiplayer visibility

Treecension currently uses public Steam lobbies. When you host, the game creates a lobby name using your current Steam display name followed by “’s Treecension Lobby.” That lobby name and its player count can be visible to people browsing compatible lobbies. Other session participants can see the player name and in-game state needed for multiplayer.

Do not use a Steam display name that reveals information you do not want other players to see. Information sent during peer-hosted play is processed by the host’s device and the devices of the other session participants.

5. Local saves and settings

Game settings, metacurrency, unlocked cosmetics, equipped cosmetics, upgrades, and certain save information are stored in files on your device. The current build does not upload those files to a Circular Studios server. When Steam Cloud is enabled for Treecension, Valve may synchronize designated progression and save files under your Steam settings and Valve’s policies. Machine-specific display and audio settings are not designated for synchronization.

You can remove local data by deleting the game’s user-data files or using operating-system and Steam tools available to you. Uninstalling a game does not always remove every save or configuration file.

6. Sharing and third-party services

We do not sell or rent player information. Information may be processed by:

See the Steam Privacy Policy for information about Valve’s practices.

7. Retention

Circular Studios does not currently keep a central database of gameplay sessions. Transient multiplayer information lasts for the connection or lobby session, subject to any processing or retention performed by Steam or another participant’s device. Local saves remain on your device until you remove them. If you contact us for support, we retain the correspondence only as long as reasonably needed to answer the request, maintain necessary records, resolve disputes, or meet legal obligations.

8. Your choices and rights

For data controlled by Valve, submit the request directly to Valve through Steam Support. We may need enough information to understand and verify a request, but we will not ask for your Steam password.

9. Children

Treecension does not knowingly request personal information directly from children and does not provide targeted advertising. A parent or guardian who believes a child has sent personal information directly to Circular Studios may contact us to request its removal. Steam account eligibility and parental controls are governed by Valve’s terms and settings.

10. Security and international processing

We use reasonable safeguards appropriate to the limited information under our control. No transmission or storage method is completely secure. Steam and online participants may process information in countries outside your own, where privacy laws may differ.

11. This website

This static information site does not intentionally set advertising cookies or include analytics scripts. The company that hosts the site may process ordinary web request information, such as IP address, browser type, requested page, and time of access, for security and delivery. Its own privacy policy applies to that processing.

12. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy if Treecension’s features or our practices change. We will revise the date at the top and provide additional notice where required. Material changes apply prospectively.

13. Contact

Circular Studios is responsible for privacy questions concerning information under its control. Contact us at circulargamestudios@outlook.com.
